While Onport can automatically transform prices and do FX conversions, you may want to manually set the prices for the items (e.g. to incorporate shipping costs or handle FX conversions). There are different methods for achieving this.
1. Manually updating the prices in Shopify
One approach would be to manually set the price for the items once they are published within your Shopify store. To do this, you'll first need to toggle off the pricing sync option in the inventory feed settings.
This will prevent any pricing updates for the items going to Shopify (inventory will continue to sync by default).
❗️It is important to note, with the pricing sync disabled, items will be published initially without a price. To allow for this, you'll need to check this option in your store settings (e.g. Integrations > Shopify > Publishing).
2. Setup a secondary inventory feed
As an alternative to manually updating in Shopify, you can set up an additional inventory feed just for pricing for the vendor, alongside their main publishing inventory feed.
💡 Example: you may be connecting to their Shopify store in an inventory feed and, alongside with that, using a Google Sheet for any custom pricing.
We'd typically recommend using Google Sheet, as the setup is more straightforward and you don't need to upload every time you make a change. You could even have the vendor complete the Google Sheet or CSV file for you.
Create a secondary inventory feed
As a first step, you'll need to create a secondary inventory feed for the vendor. You can do this under the "Products" tab in their settings.
There are some important settings you'll need to configure for this to work:
- Under the "Mapping" tab of the Google Sheet feed, scroll until you find the setting "What are you using this feed for?". Then, select "Sync inventory or pricing".
- Stay in the "Mapping" tab and select the mapping to use.
❗️ It's important to note all inventory feeds require an inventory level field. This should be set to 0, as if it's blank or omitted, it won't be imported.
- Go to the "Publishing" tab and make sure the setting "Automatically connect by SKU" is toggled on.
- Under the "Inventory and Prices" tab, ensure the pricing sync is enabled in the Google Sheet file and disabled in the main publishing inventory feed.
- Ensure the SKUs match between the two inventory feeds. So the SKU you use in the Google Sheet file, is the same as the SKU in the main inventory feed.
Once the Google Sheet inventory feed is set up, the pricing will then sync from the Google Sheet file whenever it's updated. Onport will check it daily or hourly, depending on your account subscription and the number of SKUs in the feed.
